SELF-PUBLISHING: Publishing Under Your Own Imprint

presented by John Amiard Oberteuffer

(reprinted from eNews)

WHAT: An overview of independent publishing and some basic information on producing both print-on-demand and e-books. This is a repeat of John's highly praised 2011 webinar.

WHEN: Sunday, August 26, 7:00-8:30 pm Eastern Dayllight Time

WHO: Writers in all genres. The webinar is open to both members and non-members.

COST: $10 for NWU members, $15 for non-members.

HOW TO REGISTER: Make out your check to NWU-Boston and mail it to

National Writers Union –Boston

P.O. Box 380687

Cambridge, MA 02238-0687.

Please notify webmaster@nwuboston.org after you've sent your check, so we'll know to watch for it. A week before the webinar, you will receive an email reminder along with instructions on how to log in.

TECH STUFF: Participants will need a computer with a fast (DSL or cable) Internet connection. The audio service for the webinar will be your computer headset/speakers or a microphone.

WHY: Until quite recently self-publishing was an expensive undertaking and the options for selling a self-published book were limited. Now thanks to print-on-demand technology, e-books, and Internet marketing, self-publishing can be inexpensive and profitable.

THE PRESENTER: NWU-Boston Chapter member John Amiard Oberteuffer, author of the self-published mystery-thriller Swedish Blood: A Peter Frost Mystery, is a frequent presenter on self-publishing (producing a book under your own imprint). He will offer practical guidance on low-cost, professional quality self-publishing. He will discuss the creation and submission of print-ready digital files for POD printing and e-books, and options for marketing and sales. The presentation includes PowerPoint slides and Q&A.
