SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: Pagan Kennedy's website says, "Pagan Kennedy is not a New Age cult, a punk band or a motorcycle gang." Pagan has published nine books and has won numerous literary prizes. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The NYT Book Review, The Village Voice, Dwell, Details, Ms., Playboy, The Nation, Boston Magazine and The Boston Globe Magazine. She writes a column in The Globe. Pagan also consults to other writers in such problematic tasks as editing and drafting proposals. Read more about her here.

OUR OWN SPECIAL SPEAKERS: Mid-party, we'll have a reading at which six of the twenty 2008 authors will give us a 5-minute tease of the flavor of their books: Yleana Martinez (Isabel's Texas Two-Step), Cathryn McIntyre (Honor in Concord: Seeking Spirit in Literary Concord), Kate Genovese (Two Weeks Since My Last Confession), Janet Spurr (Beach Chair Diaries: Summer Tales from Maine to Maui), Amy L. Clark (A Peculiar Feeling of Restlessness), and Sue Katz (Thanks But No Thanks: The Voter's Guide to Sarah Palin).

A question and answer period will follow the talk.

Please bring some party food, since refreshments are potluck. We'll bring juice and soda to go with the food; feel free to bring wine or beer. Bring your writer friends, as well.

Authors will be selling their books so bring cash or checks − or, if you're an author, some books. (Some authors may be able to take credit cards.)

In fact, everyone is welcome to use our display tables to put out (and potentially sell) your books, articles, copies of poems, brochures, leaflets and business cards.

To volunteer to set up, greet or clean up at this, our biggest annual event, email Maria Termini or call her at 617-928-1544.
