Ideas for Spreading the Word About Your New Book
by Ruth Nemzoff
My new book, Don't Bite Your Tongue: How to Foster Rewarding Relationships with Your Adult Children, just out from Palgrave Macmillan (summer 2008), is about parenting adult children, with vignettes and practical advice for parents facing this challenging task as their own children become independent yet rely on them for all kinds of things, from babysitting to financial support.
One way I promoted my book was to ask friends and colleagues to help spread the word in various ways, which I list here to share with fellow book authors:
I hope you will read and love Don't Bite Your Tongue: How to Foster Rewarding
Relationships with Your Adult Children, just out from Palgrave Macmillan
(2008). If you are willing, I would be most appreciative if you could help me
spread the word about Don't Bite Your Tongue in any of the following ways.
Mention Don't Bite Your Tongue to all your friends.
Send an email to all, or some, of your various e-lists telling people about
the book. Include a link to my website.
Go to your local bookstore, tell them what a great book it is and that they
should stock it, and maybe even make it a manager's pick!
Suggest to interested groups that I am an available speaker.
Recommend Don't Bite Your Tongue for your book club. I guarantee interesting
discussions. Or start a group to discuss the book, as suggested in the book.
Write a review of the book in any newsletter, however big or small, that you
have access to, or contact any media people (newspaper, radio, magazine, etc.)
you know who might write a review or comment on Don't Bite Your Tongue.
Promote Don't Bite Your Tongue through any electronic means, such as blogs,
facebook, virtual book clubs, etc.
Thanks for your support!
